Kopi and Kitchen

British colonial aspects of Singapore

Environmental and identity design

Singapore and Kopi

The word kopi is a Malay/Hokkien term for coffee. A kopitiam or kopi tiam is a traditional coffee shop found in Southeast Asia, patronised for meals and beverages.

The brief was to design a space and identity that reflected the British colonial aspects of Singapore, as well as capturing elements that remind us of Singapore.

Located in the heart of the city of Adelaide South Australia, (City Cross Food Court) the challenges we faced was to design a space that would standout from an already busy food and beverage market. We researched various food stores and street architecture from Singapore for inspiration.
